The Irish Invitational

Taylor and Amber competed in the Irish Invitational track meet today, held at Notre Dame, just a few minutes from home.  I worked this morning, so I only caught a few of their events this afternoon.  It was a windy day that began with rain and ended with sunshine.
Taylor was involved in four events.  She ran the midget 100m in a time of 14.59, ran the anchor in the 4x100m relay, ran the 400m anchor leg of the junior sprint medley, and also did her long jump with a jump of 3.97m.

Amber was very excited to come in third with a personal best in her 100m with a time of 13.10.
WAY TO GO GIRL!!!!
Amber also did long jump with a jump of 4.23m placing her in 6th in that event, and she also ran the 200m leg of the senior sprint medley.
It was exciting stuff to watch...So proud of you ladies!  I am looking forward to the next one!!!

Running the 4x100m anchor today meant "chase those girls down!"

It takes a tough girl to run the 400m!

Off to a Good Start!

On Tuesday, Amber and Taylor had a great day at their first official track meet of the 2012 season.  It was the OCSSAA track meet held at York University.  (This was the Christian school meet.)  Taylor competed in the long jump (5th), triple jump, 100m (4th), and the 4x100m senior relay (3rd).   Amber ran her fastest time this season in her 100m heat with a time of 13.25.  She came in 3rd in the 100m final, with a time of 13.41. The first place time was 13.39...needless to say...it was a tight one!  Amber also came in 2nd in triple jump with a 9.93m leap, 4th in long jump, and 3rd with the senior 4x100m relay team.

So it appears that all their hard work and training is paying off...CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!!

They are off to a good start but there is hopefully much more to come so I shall keep you posted!!!

Hamilton Indoor Games

Yesterday, Levi had the privilege of competing at the Hamilton Indoor Games held at Copps Coliseum.  Trinity had a fantastic day and all the students competed with wonderful sportsmanship and heart.  TCS tied for 10th place out of 30 schools and a few of the students won medals, so it was an impressive display of God-given athletic abilities. We are very thankful for their coaches, Charles and Audrey McGregor, who always lead and coach with such enthusiasm and positive encouragement. Yesterday was a great experience for Levi.  He competed in three track events as well as triple jump. The opportunity to compete at this event was a great warm up for the upcoming track season...

June Sports Pics

Last week Taylor went to the District Track and Field meet held in Brantford.  She competed in the 400m, long jump, and triple jump.  She had a great time in the heat and came home with a lovely yellow 4th place ribbon in triple jump, and Trinity came in first place overall.

Taylor played in the Baseball Tournament held in Kitchener today.  The girls team won 3 of their 5 games.  I enjoyed yelling and cheering, and especially loved their, "Encourage one another" cheer/song that they did together as a team.  The weather was awesome and the girls displayed great attitudes and sportsmanship.

Taylor's elementary sports experience came to an end today......next year......Highschool!!!! YAY!

OFSAA 2011~Track and Field

It was a wonderful day.  We started our morning with a drive from Parry Sound to Sudbury through crazy downpours accompanied by incredibly close lightning and thunder that rumbled the van to its core.  Thankfully the further north we travelled, the brighter the skies became.  We reached Sudbury around 11am and by that time the skies were overcast, but not dropping any rain.

Amber competed in the long jump at 1:30 this afternoon.  The whole family was there to cheer her on as she jumped her 4.60 metre jump.  We were excited to be able to watch her compete and experience the thrill of being the sole King's Christian representative at this OFSAA track and field meet.

It was a well-organized event and it was a great experience for Amber.  She was cool as a cucumber before and during the competition and she is very happy with her results.  Placing 16th in all of Ontario is something to be proud of.  We thank God for blessing her with the many gifts she has and we pray that He'll receive all the glory.

Oh yes...the Big Nickel...

TCS Track & Field 2011

We were blessed with DRY WEATHER today!  I stood there at the track just amazed at the fact that it wasn't raining.  We have had so much rain lately that we were just praising the Lord for a dry day.

Taylor came in 1st in both triple jump and long jump, 2nd in the 400m, and 5th in the 100m.
This was a tough year for Levi and David because they competed against kids who were a year older than they were.  Levi came in 4th in both the 400m and triple jump events.  David competed with vigour and had a lot of fun hanging out and playing with his friends.  He came home with a 3rd place ribbon in the shuttle relay.

Ribbons were only handed out today to those who placed in the top 4 of each event, but at the awards assembly in June, the students will receive a ribbon for their over-all placement according to the standards.

The Guelph District Field day will be held in June and I hope there will be more exciting news to share when that time comes.

District Field Day~June 2, 2010

Triple-jump~Love the flying braids!

This year Taylor and Levi qualified to compete at the District Field meet hosted in Burlington at Nelson Stadium.  (Some of us will remember that last year Taylor missed all the track and field days b/c of her concussion.)  Taylor competed in the 1500m, 400m, and triple-jump.  Levi ran the 400m and the 4x100m relay.  Although Taylor did not finish in the ribbon positions, she did run some valiant races and even passed 4 girls in the last 100m stretch of the 1500m run.  She injured her ankle on the triple-jump event, so she did not post her best results on that day.  Dad and Mom were impressed by her determination and desire to do her best, even in the face of tough competition and injury.

1500m~Finish line in sight!

Levi had to wait until 1:30pm for his first event to start, so he had a tough time waiting around being nervous all morning. When the time came for him to run his 400m race, he was ready and flew so fast around the track that he literally blew away the competition in his heat. He finished 3rd over all in the 400m, and his 4x100m relay team came in second.

David and I enjoyed the day cheering on everyone, and Daddy was again on crowd control, trying to keep people off the track when races were in progress. Yes, David skipped school for the day...he was an alternate for ball-throw, so he didn't actually compete, but he was a valuable part of the cheering section.

All in all it was a wonderful day. The weather was lovely, and only the last few relay events were run in the pouring rain. The lightning and thunder kept away until the day was finished, so we were blessed with another memorable day at the track! God is good. It is so fun to watch all those able-bodied, energetic children show their stuff. I am looking forward to next year, DV.

400m (This was around 250m...I was cheering at one side of the track, and Rick was at the finish-line!)

Track and Field 2010

It's that time of year again! Track and Field was held this past Thursday, May 20th, at Nelson Stadium. Taylor started the day off bright and early before the rest of the gang because she wanted to run the 1500m. She came in first and is going on to regionals for that as well as well as a couple other events. Levi and David gave their best efforts as well and came home with some ribbons and stories to share. Levi will also be going on for some of the events...details to follow in a later post.
