TCS Titans Hockey 2012

The two biggest boys in this house spent some time together at the hockey rink this winter.  The TCS Titans' hockey team participated in two tournaments (as well as an exhibition game against Dundas, which they won!) 

Levi enjoyed developing his skills and having fun with his friends on the ice, and Rick always loves any opportunity to put on his own skates and help out. 

After watching his brother at one of the practices, David said, "that just makes me want to play!"  (I'm glad he has a few more years to grow before he tries out for the hockey team.)  

Work and things of that nature kept me from going to the tournaments this year, but Taylor went with her friend to the tournament in Stouffville...(the girls were on a break between semesters.)  

I was very thankful that she went as the "Schenk photographer"...so thankful, in fact, that I let her take MY camera!

HOCKEY DAY IN GUELPH CANADA

On Thursday, January 19, fifteen determined hockey players rose early in the morning to travel for the annual Guelph District Hockey Tournament in Fergus.  Always a highlight of the sporting season, the hockey team practiced hard in preparation for a competitive day of hockey that included Christian schools from Guelph, Burlington Christian Academy (BCA), Kitchener and Brantford. 

The competition at this year’s tournament proved to be very strong for the Trinity Titans.  Although we began the day as the reigning Guelph District Christian School Hockey Tournament “AA” Champs, the day ended without a victory.    The team improved with each game and the players were a pleasure to coach and supervise.    Congratulations to all the players!  Well done! 

The team would especially like to thank our coaches, John Regeling, Jack Olewniczak and Tim Valters for all their help and all the parents who were able to drive.  We are looking forward to our next tournament in Stouffville on Friday, January 27.  We will keep you informed!

Hockey Night in Burlington

The hockey season at TCS has come to an end.   Fifteen young men strapped up their laces and took to the ice on Friday, January 27 in Stouffvulle to represent our school at the final tournament of the season.  Under the tutelage of head coach, Tim Valters and assistants John Regeling and Jack Olewniczak, the team improved significantly from the previous tournament. 

The tournament included teams from Stouffville, Barrie, St. Catharines and two from Burlington, including BCA and ourselves.  The team was faced with some tough competition and finished the tournament with a record of one win, one tie and two loses.  The scores included the following:  Stouffville 3, Trinity 2; Barrie 3, Trinity 3; Trinity 8, St. Catharines 3; and BCA 3, Trinty 1. 

The entire coaching staff was very excited about the level of commitment and effort from the hockey team.  After a rousing exhibition game against Dundas Calvin Christian School on Thursday, the team transformed from a group of hockey players into a team.  

A special thanks to all our volunteer parent drivers and the coaching team.  We are very thankful for the opportunity to lead this wonderful group of students and we look forward to another exciting season next year.

Trinity Hockey Season

Levi and Taylor were both on the Trinity hockey team this year.  Unfortunately, Taylor was the only female on the team (second year in a row...) They had a great time with the after school practices and went to two tournaments.  Mr. Tim Valters was the coach, with Rick (the staff rep) and Dave Plante assisting.

The first tournament was held in Guelph on Thursday, January 20th.  They won every game they played that day and came away champions! 
They defeated Burlington Christian Academy 6-4, Kitchener 6-0, Dundas 3-1, and Cambridge 3-1.

The second tournament was held in Stouffville on Friday, Janary 28th.  They lost to Barrie 1-6, defeated Peterborough 5-1, and lost to Stouffville 2-3 (Taylor scored the first goal of that game!)

The season is over and Taylor is a little sad that her hockey career is most likely over for the time being.  (King's doesn't have a hockey team.)

That being said, she is now on the basketball team and they are getting ready for the upcoming tournaments.
I shall keep you posted as to how that goes!

Hockey Report

The Schenk black-top has been sizzling lately with all the exciting hockey action. David and Levi have been enjoying the bright, sunny warm weather and have even made some new friends in the neighbourhood. I am thankful that their hockey games have moved from inside the house to outdoors.

David has been the goalie lately, and Levi has been working on his moves. I'm not sure the garage is liking the beating it has been taking...it is covered with black tennis ball marks and even has a hole or two from some blazing shots. (I think Rick is responsible for at least one hole.)

I don't mind the marks...just evidence that lots of fun has been had. We are so thankful to God for the beautiful weather we have been enjoying. It is turning out to be one of the best March Breaks ever in terms of gorgeous weather!

Schenk Sports Update

Ok, well, being the sportsfan that I am, I need to share the latest on the athletes in this house. First of all, let me just say that Rick and I are happy our children love to be involved in sports, and secondly, we are glad Amber is finished her team sports for the year. (We said "no more." One can only do so much driving...)



Amber was involved with the junior bball and vball teams this year at King's. They take sports very seriously at King's. There were multiple practices and games every week. The bball team was an energetic bunch of girls. They didn't win a single game, but they did have fun. They learned a lot, and coach Bulthuis is excited about next year. (Girls bball is very intense!) Vball was much of the same but less intense and not as exciting to watch. Not much winning was going on, but hopefully they'll be that much better next year.

Then there's Taylor. She has been on every sports team she could try out for this year, the exception being cross-country. This is the first year she didn't run cross-country, but she promises me she'll do it again next year...we shall see about that. Levi ran cross country this year and made it to the All-Ontario Christian meet. He did very well and enjoyed it very much.

Taylor has been on the school soccer team, vball team, hockey team (the only female on it), and most recently the bball team. I was a little concerned about the hockey thing this year, but she held her own...and had she not been playing, I never would have had the chance to meet Gary Roberts. She played in two tournaments and they did quite well. (yes that is her in the penalty box)



Bball just finished and the Trinity team won their first tournament and went to the final-four in their second tournament. It was great stuff to watch and cheer. I had several parents tell me that my little Taylor is very aggressive on the court. I'm no expert when it comes to bball, but I suppose that explains the many fouls. I was proud of her and I look forward to next year when she'll be the senior on the team. DV. Well, that's the latest from the world of Schenk sports. If you were privileged to watch some of that action I'm sure you'll agree with me that our children certainly get a lot of that, shall we say, "enthusiasm" from their father. (Ok, they can't help it b/c it's in their genes...Rick and I are both very competitive...sorry kids!)
