I think the title says it all...
This blog is an outlet for my desire to document events and happenings in the life of our family. I'm thankful for this opportunity to share with family and friends some pics and tidbits from our exciting adventure called LIFE.

A Sigh of Relief
Two children in this house will be sleeping a little easier tonight now that the TCS Science Fair is over.
We are very proud of them for all the work they put into their projects! Taylor came in fourth place and will be going on to BASEF (Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair) held at Mohawk in Hamilton, as well as the All-Ontario Christian School Science Fair held at Redeemer. Amber went there a couple years ago, so Taylor is incredibly excited and PUMPED! She can't wait to go!! If you want to know what their projects were all about, they'd be happy to tell you all about it...
Many thanks go to our amazing science teacher, Mrs. Annette Vanderwoerd, for all her help and encouragement! You're the best!!

Life According to His Plan, Not Mine
Well here is something I've been struck with...again. It's amazing how patient God is with me. The longsuffering of God towards someone who needs to learn lessons over and over is striking.
Isn't it amazing at how when looking back upon your life you can see God's leading?!? I must confess that I don't always feel it in the moment, but I do try to live trusting that He does all things for my good.
In recent days, I have just been pondering the idea that my life isn't going according to my plans. Before you get the wrong idea, you should know this is a good thing.
There were thoughts that I have had ingrained in my mind for years and years, put there by none other than myself: thoughts about what I would be doing with my life. I have to admit that it's not exactly what I had pictured when I first got married. That is not to mean that I don't love where God has led me. It's just that I didn't plan for all of this: where we would move, what churches and friends would influence our spiritual growth, what little communities we would live in, what schools my kids would go to, what I might be doing once my kids were all in school, and the list could go on and on. I would never plan to have myself go through rough patches...but God did. It was all His plan, not mine.
And you know what? It's a wonderful, beautiful, amazing plan! I have loved the places we have been to. I have loved the Christian brothers and sisters, our "family" we have been blessed with. I have even grown to appreciate the difficult times because they have taught me lessons I would otherwise have never learned. God is a loving Father and it is a comforting fact to know that I might make plans, but God is the director of my life.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art
High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all

PD, Snow Day, and Good o'l CAA!
Yesterday Taylor and Levi had the day off for a PD day. Taylor spent a large part of her day baking treats in anticipation of the snow storm that was to come our way...
On top of all that, the van was towed away on Monday night. It is at the shop and I am still waiting to hear about the final diagnosis...engine trouble...some decisions will need to be made concerning that aging vehicle...
Today is the first snow day for our kids and they are making the most of it. Well, actually, Taylor and Levi are working on the displays for their science fair projects. It is very handy to have an experienced editor living in the house. Amber did very well with her science fair project a couple years ago, (going to BASEF and the Redeemer science fairs), so she is busy helping them out.
David is trying to stay out of their way, sort of. He really wants to go out and play in the snow, but has been on antibiotics since Monday for an ear infection...not fun. His cold that just wouldn't go away kind of took a turn for the worse, and when he was complaining about his ear on Saturday night and Sunday, I thought it was time for some medical intervention. So, he can't wait till mommy gives him the ok to get outside and play in all this new white stuff.
We have received 7 inches of snow and counting. It's still snowing. It was very blizzard-like throughout the night, with the wind picking up just before we turned out the lights last night.
Rick is missing out on the real snow day experience because he at a meeting all day...he's feeling a little ripped off.On top of all that, the van was towed away on Monday night. It is at the shop and I am still waiting to hear about the final diagnosis...engine trouble...some decisions will need to be made concerning that aging vehicle...
The view out my bedroom window this morning.
This face says it all...
I love a bit of the country in the city...
It's 3pm and the road it cleared.
Clearing away what the tractor plowed into the driveway...
...poor Venture...

Trinity Hockey Season
Levi and Taylor were both on the Trinity hockey team this year. Unfortunately, Taylor was the only female on the team (second year in a row...) They had a great time with the after school practices and went to two tournaments. Mr. Tim Valters was the coach, with Rick (the staff rep) and Dave Plante assisting.
The first tournament was held in Guelph on Thursday, January 20th. They won every game they played that day and came away champions!
They defeated Burlington Christian Academy 6-4, Kitchener 6-0, Dundas 3-1, and Cambridge 3-1.
The second tournament was held in Stouffville on Friday, Janary 28th. They lost to Barrie 1-6, defeated Peterborough 5-1, and lost to Stouffville 2-3 (Taylor scored the first goal of that game!)
The season is over and Taylor is a little sad that her hockey career is most likely over for the time being. (King's doesn't have a hockey team.)
That being said, she is now on the basketball team and they are getting ready for the upcoming tournaments.
I shall keep you posted as to how that goes!

Have you noticed the pretty pink tape?
Our left-winger
The loyal fan-club!
Taylor's "don't mess with me" look...(comes from the Schenk side I'm sure...)
The bench...this last game was a tight one...literally came down to the last second...
